If you're looking for a hotel where you can disconnect and return home refreshed, look no further than Habitas Bacalar. Located on a lagoon in the Mayan jungle of Bacalar, Mexico – a town near the Belize border about 25 miles northwest of Chetumal, Mexico – this tranquil property aims to recharge its guests with its yoga classes, organic cuisine and zero TVs or telephones. Guests can choose between Lagoon Rooms, Jungle Rooms and Lagoon Breeze Rooms; all offer earthy interiors with wood furniture and neutral accents. Outside of your room, sit down for a meal at Siete, which serves up healthful dishes like coconut chia pudding, iron-skillet spiced eggs and ceviche. (But, fear not: You'll be able to indulge in your choice of mezcal, whiskey and gin cocktails as well.) Habitas Bacalar also offers its guests daily programming, which is part of the nightly rate. Activities may include sunrise paddleboarding, weekly family-style dinners or live music with local musicians. Recent travelers had high praise for the property, dubbing it the ideal place to escape the modern world. Highlights included the natural beauty of the lagoon, the variety of on-site activities and the comfortable rooms. However, some felt that the food and drinks at the restaurant – while delicious – were a bit overpriced.

Aside from the beach, the resort's accommodations also earned high praise from guests, who applauded the rooms' spacious interiors (guest rooms start at 760 square feet) and private outdoor showers. Other in-room amenities include terraces, soaking tubs and garden or ocean views. Outside your digs, you'll find a spa, a fitness center, a three-tiered infinity pool, an 18-hole golf course and kids and teens clubs, among other amenities. The first Nobu hotel in Mexico, this outpost sprawls along Playa El Suspiro within the Diamante development. Along with the stunning location, reviewers were also impressed with the rooms. Starting at around 500 square feet, accommodations are equipped with Nespresso machines, soaking tubs, 65-inch flat-screen TVs and yoga mats, among other accouterments. Leaders Club members can also take advantage of free Wi-Fi access and daily continental breakfast for two, among other perks. Outside their digs, lodgers will have access to a more than 13,000-square-foot spa, a nearly 4,000-square-foot fitness facility and four pools, including the adults-only Sunset Pool. And because the hotel sits within the Diamante complex, Nobu Hotel Los Cabos also puts visitors within easy reach of several championship golf courses. Though past guests were wowed by the hotel's amenities and top-notch service, their biggest source of praise was the dining, which come as no surprise since the hotel brand was co-founded by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Enjoy Japanese fusion at Nobu Los Cabos, farm-to-table cuisine at Malibu Farm and traditional Mexican dishes at Pacific Restaurant. Keep in mind: Though the hotel sits on the beach, it advises that guests not swim in the water due to strong currents.

To make the most of your stay at this Fairmont outpost, consider booking one of the resort's promotional packages. But be careful: Some guests warn that the property's high food and drink prices can quickly raise your final bill. To help cut costs, use accrued AccorHotels loyalty program points to pay for your room.
